Kathryn Michele Markgraf (born Kathryn Michele Sobrero on August 23, 1976 in Bloomfield Hills ) is a former American football player who played in defense .

Margrave began her career at Detroit County Day School, where she won numerous titles and awards in both soccer and volleyball . After school, she studied at the University of Notre Dame . With the college team, she won the national championship in 1995.

In 1998 she made her debut in a game against Argentina in the US national team . A year later she became world champion . At the World Championships in 2003 and 2007, she finished third with the US selection. By 2010 she played 201 internationals for the American women's national team.

She took part in the Olympic Games in 2000, 2004 and 2008 . In 2000 she won silver and in 2004 and 2008 the gold medal. In the professional league WUSA she played from 2001 to 2003 for the Boston Breakers, for which the Germans Maren Meinert and Bettina Wiegmann were also active. Markgraf later played in the Swedish Damallsvenskan for KIF Örebro . She also played for the Chicago Red Stars in the WPS . She is one of the 24 women who have played more international matches than male soccer players.

She has been married to soccer player Chris Markgraf since 2003.
