Katherine Parkinson

Katherine Parkinson (born March 9, 1977 in Hounslow , London ) is a British actress . She became internationally known for her role as "Jen Barber" in the TV series The IT Crowd .

Life

Katherine Parkinson went to the Tiffin Girls' School in Kingston upon Thames in London and later to St Hilda's College in Oxford . She then attended the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art , where she first met Chris O'Dowd , who later played with her in The IT Crowd . She interrupted her studies to star in the play The Age of Consent . In 2007 she appeared in a newly translated version of Die Möwe by Anton Chekhov together with Kristin Scott Thomas and Mackenzie Crook .

Parkinson has been working as a film and television actress since 2005. For example, from 2005 to 2009 she appeared as Pauline Lamb in the British television series Doc Martin . She gained fame with the lead role of "Jen Barber" in the award-winning comedy series The IT Crowd . In addition to roles in television series and television films , she has also appeared in films such as New York for Beginners and Radio Rock Revolution .

In 2012, Parkinson played the journalist Kitty Riley in the final episode of the second season of the BBC series Sherlock (" Der Reichenbachfall ").
