The Katholische Ärztarbeit Deutschland eV (KÄAD) is an association of Catholic doctors and medical professionals .

history

It was founded in 1958 on the initiative of Cardinal Lorenz Jaeger. Forerunners were the Lukas-Gilden under the direction of Father Gratian Gruber OFMCap, the religious-scientific medical conference of the physician Alf Riegel, the prelate Bernhard Hanssler and Georg Trapp SJ, the rector of the Berchmanskolleg, as well as the Catholic Academic Association under the leadership of Leon Norpoth, Leopold Deimel and Prelate Paul Wolff.

The aim of the association is to deal with religious-ethical principles in research and practice as well as borderline issues in medicine and medical-ethical further education.

organization

The association is bound by its statutes. The organs are the general assembly and the board. The members get involved with their own board at the diocesan level.

The association is part of the European Catholic medical association FEAMC (Federation Europeenne des Associations de Medecins Catholiques) and the FIAMC, the umbrella organization of the national Catholic medical associations based in Rome.
