Katia Wagner (born February 3, 1988 ) is an Austrian columnist and presenter . She has been writing and moderating for the Kronen Zeitung regularly since 2017 .

Career

Wagner was born in 1988 as the daughter of an Austrian and an Indonesian. In 2013 the dentistry student was named Miss Earth Austria at the Odeon Theater in Vienna . At the international Miss Earth competition in Manila, Philippines, she came second out of 89 candidates and won the title "Miss Earth Air 2013". In the contest she was also named Best in Swimsuit (Top 15), Talent (Top 15) and Most Child Friendly (Group 1).

In 2015 Wagner hosted the international Miss Earth final night in Vienna together with Joey Mead King and US presenter Oli Pettigrew .

At the beginning of 2017, she caused a stir with a post on her Facebook account. In it, she published an order from the Labor Inspectorate that required windows in cubicles for intimate waxing in a cosmetic studio. A public debate about bureaucracy then erupted. In order to get an idea of ​​the situation for himself, the then Vice Chancellor Reinhold Mitterlehner visited the cosmetic studio, which was criticized, and then demanded legal reforms. Measures to reduce bureaucracy were discussed at a “bureaucracy summit” organized afterwards, in which, among others, Wagner, the then Minister of Social Affairs Alois Stöger , ÖGB boss Erich Foglar and the Vice Chancellor took part.

Wagner is a member of the ÖVP Economic Association.

Column & moderation

In June 2017 Wagner was featured as a columnist for the Kronen Zeitung. Until today she writes there every Wednesday on the subjects of social and domestic politics. Since April 2018 Wagner has been moderating the weekly discussion program "Katia Wagner #brennpunkt" on Krone TV. From August to September 2018, Wagner moderated the summer politics talks on behalf of the Kronen Zeitung.
