Advisory affair of the Federal Ministry of Defense

Observers see Suder as a key figure in the advisory affair of the Federal Ministry of Defense . Katrin Suder is described by employees and colleagues as a particularly capable manager who, however, showed a lack of understanding of the civil service apparatus.

During her interrogation on the advisory affair in the Ministry of Defense before the investigative committee of the German Bundestag on January 30, 2020, she rejected all allegations against herself; she often referred to gaps in memory. During her four years in the ministry, she said that she was never involved in the selection of certain consultants, some of whom were very close friends and acquaintances, or companies like Accenture or McKinsey, "the ministry was responsible for that". "It is noticeable that Ms. Suder only remembers details that do not bother her," says Siemtje Möller from the SPD .

After the end of the investigative committee, the FDP, the Left and the Greens wrote in a special vote on Suder: “They did not keep the required distance to former companions.” The suspicion of a buddy system was described as obvious, but there was no evidence.
