Katrin Wühn

Katrin Wühn (born November 19, 1965 in Berlin ) is a German athlete who was successful as a middle-distance runner in the 1980s - starting for the GDR . On July 12, 1984, she achieved a time of 2: 35.4 minutes in a 1000-meter run in Potsdam and thus equalized Irina Nikitina's junior world record (August 5, 1979). The world record is unsurpassed to this day (as of July 2013). She won her only GDR championship title in 1987 when she was successful over 1500 meters in the hall.

She achieved her personal best over 800 meters in 1: 57.86 min (May 5, 1984 in Celje / YUG) and over 1500 meters in 4: 03.77 min (June 6, 1987 in Potsdam).

With a height of 1.73 m, she had a competition weight of 57 kg.

In 1989 she ended her athletic career for health reasons.

Katrin Wühn was married to the walker Ralf Kowalsky (1962–1990; world record holder in train travel).
