Kazimieras Antanavičius (born November 25, 1937 in Balsėnai near Veiviržėnai , Klaipėda Rajongemeinde , † April 16, 1998 in Vilnius ) was a Lithuanian economist and social democratic politician .

Life

Antanavičius studied in Tauragė and Šilalė Middle Schools . After graduating from high school with distinction in 1955 in Švėkšna ( Šilutė Rajongemeinde ), he studied civil engineering at the Kauno politechnikos institutas (KPI). Because of anti-Soviet activity from 1952 to 1954, he was arrested in 1959 and removed from the Komsomol and Institute. In 1960 he completed the external course at KPI. From 1964 to 1965 he was an aspirant at the KPI. From 1967 to 1988 he taught at the Vilniaus inžinerinis statybos institutas . In 1968 he received his doctorate in technology and in 1977 his habilitation in economics . From 1982 he was a professor . From 1989 to 1990 he was a deputy in the Supreme Council of the Soviet Union and from 1990 to 1996 a member of the Seimas , chair of the economic committee. From 1997 to 1998 he taught at the Vytauto Didžiojo universitetas in Kaunas .

From 1988 he was a member of the Lietuvos socialdemokratų partija .

His grave is in the Antakalnis cemetery .
