Keith VanderLaan (born before 1991) is a makeup artist and special effects artist .

Life

VanderLaan began his career on the film staff in 1991 as a makeup artist with Cannom Creations , his film debut was Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Land . He stayed with Cannom Creations until the late 1990s, where he worked on Hook , Bram Stoker's Dracula and The Mask , among others . He then founded his own company, Captive Audience Productions, for which he has worked ever since. His other credits include A Beautiful Mind - Genie und Wahnsinn , Hannibal , Pirates of the Caribbean and Master & Commander - Until the End of the World . In 2005 , VanderLaan was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Make-up and Best Hairstyles for Mel Gibson's Bible adaptation, The Passion of the Christ with Christien Tinsley , but that year the adventure film Lemony Snicket won it . VanderLaan has worked under renowned directors such as Steven Spielberg , Gore Verbinski , Ron Howard , Francis Ford Coppola , Oliver Stone , Peter Weir and Ridley Scott .

In addition to his film engagements, VanderLaan has also worked for television, including the series Charmed and the miniseries From the Earth to the Moon . For his work on the Black series . White. he was awarded a Primetime Emmy in 2006.
