Kesteven is one of the traditional areas of the county of Lincolnshire in England . The other areas are Holland and Lindsey .

Kesteven was an administrative county from 1888 to 1974 . This was then dissolved as well as the administrative counties of Lindsey and Holland; the traditional county of Lincolnshire was given the status of an administrative county for the first time. The name has been retained in the new districts of North Kesteven and South Kesteven .

Kesteven was traditionally divided into so-called wapentakes : Aswardhurn , Aveland , Beltisloe , Boothby-Graffo , Flaxwell , Langoe , Loveden , Ness and Winnibriggs and Threo .
