Kij Johnson
Katherine Irenae Johnson (* 20th January 1961 in Harlan ( Iowa )) is an American writer , the science fiction - and mystery - novels and short stories published.
Life
Kij Johnson comes from a family of publishers. Her grandfather was a publisher of agricultural magazines, and her grandparents and parents were lecturers . Her mother was a school librarian and always brought books home. Kij Johnson received her bachelor's degree from St. Olaf College in Northfield (Minnesota) and then worked as an editor for various publishers, managed bookstores and worked for radio. She started writing when she was 25. In 1987 she sold her first story.
Since 1997 she has been a jury member for the finals of the Theodore Sturgeon Memorial Award . She is the associate director of the Center for Science Fiction Studies and has been an assistant professor of writing at the University of Kansas since 2012 .
