Background: Martini Church

The kinetic object is a sculpture that is located in Bremen - Mitte on the Weser , Wilhelm-Kaisen-Brücke / Martinistraße / corner of Balgebrückstraße. It is included in the list of monuments and statues of the city of Bremen .

The moving object from 1973 made of stainless steel on a concrete base comes from the Berlin sculptor Hein Sinken . As part of the Art in Public Space program, it was initially installed in the playground of the West Comprehensive School, Lissaer Straße, in Gröpelingen . In 2003 it came to its current location through the Moving the City campaign .

The cultural authority writes: In the case of the work of art, “the individual hemispheres, driven by the wind, move around their own axis like rotors and are reminiscent of working machine parts. Art and technology have made an interesting connection here ”. But only when the wind blows properly, as in Bremen, do the metallic hemispheres move; A static object becomes a mobile work of art that shines particularly steely in the sunshine.

The stainless steel wind object (1978) by the artist Sinken (1914–1987) is still standing in Bremen-Mitte on the Wilhelm-Kaisen-Brücke. He has set up abstract and kinetic objects in many locations in Germany .
