The Kira ( Bhutanese དཀྱི་ ར་, དཀྱིས་ རས་ Wylie dkyi-ra, dkyis-ras ) is the national dress of women from Bhutan .

The Kira is an ankle-length dress , which consists of an approx. 1.4 m wide and (depending on the person) 2-3 m long woven fabric panel (or several narrow ones that are sewn together). The fabric is wrapped around the body using a special technique and held together with a kera , a woven belt . The fabric is fastened over the shoulders with a brooch ( coma ). A long-sleeved blouse ( wonju ) is worn under the kira and a hip-length jacket ( tego ) is worn over it . Social status is expressed through the patterns, the choice of colors and the decorations on the fabric.
