Kira Town is a town in the Central Region in Uganda . It is located in the Wakiso district and is a parish of the district. Kira Town has had the status of a municipality since 2015. Thanks to its favorable location north of the city of Kampala , its population is growing rapidly.

location

The city is located approximately 14 kilometers northeast of downtown Kampala, Uganda's capital and largest city.

population

The 2002 census found a population of 124,067 people. The Uganda Bureau of Statistics estimated the population at mid-2010 at 172,300. In August 2014, a census put the population at 313,761, which means that the population had more than doubled.

economy

Kira Town is a suburb of Kampala and many residents work in Kampala during the day.

Kampala Industrial and Commercial Park, an 894 acre business development park developed by the Uganda Investment Authority for approximately $ 180 million, is located in Namanve in the Bweyogerere district in the far southeast of Kira Town.

Attractions

The Basilica of the Martyrs of Uganda and the Mandela National Stadium are in the city.
