Kirchgattendorf is a district of the municipality of Gattendorf in the Upper Franconian district of Hof .

history

The village was in the former Margraviate Bayreuth , which became Protestant during the Reformation. The place came to the Kingdom of Bavaria at the beginning of the 19th century. The place is known nationwide for the Kirchgattendorfer Altar in Bamberg Cathedral , which was sold to Bamberg at the beginning of the 20th century and previously had a long shadowy existence in the Protestant parish church of Gattendorf .
