Kirganli

The Kırgan (own name: Kırganlı) are an Eşiret (tribe) in Eastern Anatolia . They are Alevis who are scattered over large areas. Their language is Zaza . A small proportion still live as nomads from the herding industry.

Kırganlı now live in Tunceli , Malatya , Aydın , İzmir , Erzincan , İstanbul provinces and outside of Turkey . The core area of ​​the Kırganlı is Dersim . The Kırgan tribe was a clan ( clan ) of the Şih-Hasenan tribe. When the clans of the Şih-Hasenan tribe reached the Anatolian territories, the Kırganlı moved to Dersim . The Şih-Hasenan Eşiret had several clans. After each clan moved to different areas, each clan became its own Eşiret. The conflicts between the tribes in Dersim repeatedly led to long feuds with blood revenge . These feudal structures were seen by many zazas as the main obstacle to the development of a feeling of community. During the Dersim uprising , many Kırganlı were deported or killed.
