Kiril Dimitrov Georgiev ( Bulgarian Кирил Димитров Георгиев , scientific transliteration Kiril Dimitrov Georgiev ; born November 28, 1965 in Petritsch ) is a Bulgarian - North Macedonian chess master.

Life

Georgiev won in 1983 in Belfort , the Junior World Championship in chess . 1985 awarded him FIDE the Grandmaster title . He won the Bulgarian championship in 1984, 1986, 1989, 2013, 2014 and 2015. In 1990 he qualified for the interzonal tournament in Manila , where he was ranked 12-20. Place. Georgiev achieved numerous successes in international tournaments, his biggest tournament victories were San Bernardino 1988, Elenite 1992 and 1995 (together with Wesselin Topalow ), Budapest ( zone tournament ) 1993, Belgrade 2000, Sarajevo 2001 (before Topalow), Bad Wörishofen 2002, Gibraltar 2006.

Georgiev represented Macedonia internationally from April 2002 to September 2004, since then again Bulgaria. He was last among the top 20 in the world rankings in October 2001, and he had his highest rating of 2695 in July 2001.

From February to August 2009 Georgiev was the world record holder in simultaneous chess . He played 360 games simultaneously, of which he won 284, played 70 draws and only lost 6; the success rate was thus over 88 percent. On August 13 of the same year, Morteza Mahjoob's record from Iran was increased to 500 games.

National team

Georgiev took part in all 15 chess Olympiads from 1984 to 2012 ( 2002 for Macedonia, otherwise for Bulgaria), and between 1983 and 2011 in eight European team championships . He achieved the best individual result on the second board in 1999 in Batumi .

societies

In the German federal chess league Georgiew played from 1996 to 1999 for SG Bochum 31 , in the 2001/02 season for SV Castrop-Rauxel . In Austria he was team champion with Husek Wien in the 2008/09 season , with whom he also took part in the 2009 European Club Cup . In France, Georgiev played for Mulhouse Philidor until 2008 and in the 2007 Russian team championship for the Moscow Chess Federation .

Georgiev won the Bosnian Premijerliga in 2003 with the ŠK Bosna Sarajevo , with which he had already won the European Club Cup in 2000 .

He also played club chess in Bulgaria (for CSKA Sofia ), Macedonia (for BM Kisela Voda Skopje and SK Alkaloid Skopje ), Croatia (for ŠK Zagreb ) and Italy (for Obiettivo Risarcimento Padova ).
