Klaus Ackermann (born March 20, 1946 in Hamm ) is a former German soccer player .

career

The only 1.67 m tall striker Klaus Ackermann began his career in the men's division in 1964 in the Regionalliga West near Preußen Münster . In 1967 he moved to the Bundesliga for Borussia Mönchengladbach and, under coach Hennes Weisweiler, made 32 appearances in his first season with the foals and scored 7 goals, mostly as a left winger. In the following season, however, Erwin Kremers contested his regular place. Although Ackermann still made 28 league appearances, he moved to 1. FC Kaiserslautern in 1969 . Here he was part of the permanent staff until 1974, first as a striker and later as a midfielder. Ackermann left the Palatinate in 1974 and moved to the 2nd Bundesliga to Borussia Dortmund , where he relearned to be a full-back and formed an offensively dangerous full-back duo with Lothar Huber , another ex-Kaiserslautern. With the Dortmund team he made it back up in 1976 and was one of the most important pillars in the first season after the promotion. He wasn't missing a single game in the first season. In the following years, however, he struggled with injury problems and finally ended his professional career in 1980 at SC Herford .

With Mönchengladbach, he took third place in the Bundesliga twice. His greatest sporting success with 1. FC Kaiserslautern was reaching the final in the DFB Cup 1971/72 . However, the final was lost 5-0 to FC Schalke 04 . Overall, Klaus Ackermann made 260 appearances in the 1st Bundesliga, in which he scored 31 goals.
