Klaus Bernward Springer

Klaus Bernward Springer (* 1962 in Mainz ) is a German church historian .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1982 , Springer studied philosophy and Catholic theology at St Peter's College (Cardross) and at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz from 1982 to 1988 , where he obtained a diploma in Catholic theology in 1988. His diploma thesis was awarded the Johannes Gutenberg grant from the city of Mainz. From 1988 to 1990 he did community service in the socio-educational youth housing communities in Mainz. He was a research assistant with a degree from Isnard Wilhelm Frank in the Department of Catholic Theology in Mainz from 1990 to 1992. He was a research assistant at the chairs of Isnard Wilhelm Franks and Johannes Meiers from 1992 to 1998. The doctoral process was completed in 1998. On September 30, 1999, the dissertation was awarded the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz Prize.

From 1998 to 2003 Springer worked for book production at the Institute for European History in Mainz . As Dean's Officer (1/2 position) of the Catholic Theological Faculty Erfurt (2003-2014) and research assistant for church history in the Middle Ages and the modern age (1/2 position) with Josef Pilvousek (2003-2009) he worked on his habilitation project, the 2011 was completed. The habilitation thesis Carl von Dalberg , the last governor of the Electorate of Mainz in Erfurt (1771 / 72–1802) was awarded the Erich-Kleineidam-Preis of the Catholic Theol on November 15, 2011. Faculty of the University of Erfurt honored.

Since 2014 Springer has been managing director of the Institute for Research into the History of the Dominican Order in the German-speaking area and research assistant at the provincial archives of the Dominican Province of Teutonia and professor for Middle and Modern Church History at the PTH Münster . He wrote numerous articles in the Biographical-Bibliographical Church Lexicon (BBKL).
