Klaus Conrad

Klaus Conrad (born February 27, 1936 in Berlin ) is a German entrepreneur from Hirschau and holder of the Bavarian Order of Merit .

Life and work

In 1973, at the age of 37, Klaus Conrad became a partner in his father Werner Conrad's company, Conrad Electronic . He expanded the mail order business, and 18 further "technical department stores" were built in southern Germany over the years.

In 1995 a logistics center was built in Wernberg-Köblitz under Conrad's leadership .

In 1996 Klaus Conrad received the Bavarian Order of Merit from the hands of the then Prime Minister Edmund Stoiber .

In 1997 Klaus Conrad handed over the management of the company to his son Werner Conrad.

Commitment outside of Conrad Electronic

Klaus Conrad also shows commitment outside the company. In 1992 he renovated Wernberg Castle (Upper Palatinate), which today is one of Germany's best restaurants with two Michelin stars . In 2000 the Conrad couple founded the "Klaus and Gertrud Conrad Foundation". Regional aid projects and social institutions abroad are being supported initially with around one million euros. In 2004 the "Kuno" project (Children's University Clinic East Bavaria) received a donation of one million euros.
