Klaus Mlynek (born January 16, 1936 in Poznan ) is a German academic archivist and historian . The longtime director of the Municipal Archives Hannover is among other editor and author of the city lexicon of Hannover .

Life

After studying history, church history and legal history at the University of Jena and archive studies at the Institute for Archive Studies in Potsdam , he passed his state examination in 1957 . In 1958 he received his diploma as a scientific archivist. The doctorate followed in 1961.

After working at the German Central Archive in Potsdam and the archive of the German Academy of Sciences in Berlin , he was director of the Hanover City Archives from 1977 to 1997.

His main research areas were aspects of Hanover's city history.
