Clover grass

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Clover grass is a mixture of different types of grass and clover . The most common type of clover is the red clover . All high-yielding medium and upper grasses can be used as grass varieties. For annual cultivation, the Italian ryegrass ( Italian ryegrass ) is the most popular.

Grass clover is mainly grown in the field of forage (annual or biannual cultivation ) and as a component of a crop rotation . It is also used for green manure and occasionally for new grassland . It is also a substrate for biogas plants . The advantage of grass clover is that it does not require any additional nitrogen fertilizer , as nodule bacteria living in symbiosis with the clover bind nitrogen from the air. This plays v. a. plays an important role in organic farming, where grass clover also serves to prepare the soil for subsequent crops, e.g. B. Cereals. Clover grass is also used in biogas plants. The yields are around 10–12 t dry matter / ha .
