history
In the area around Goeblange, Celtic graves and the Roman Villa Rustica von Goeblingen- "Miecher" were discovered. Numerous finds from this era, which were found in the “Hiemerbôsch” and “Miecher” near Goeblange, are exhibited in the State Museum. Koerich was mentioned in writing for the first time in 979.
The Fockeschlass was once located in Koerich at the intersection of the Rue de Windhof and the Rue de Fockeschlass . It has completely disappeared today, but still appears on the first land register plan, which was drawn up by Joseph Johann von Ferraris in 1771.
The ruins of the Count's Castle ( Gréiweschlass or Grevenschlass ), on the other hand, are still enthroned in the middle of the village and, with the remains, give an idea of the former size. It existed before the 12th century and was rebuilt in the 14th and 16th centuries. Now in public ownership, it was listed as a historical monument in 1938.
