Konstantinos Politis ( Greek Κωνσταντίνος Πολίτης , born March 21, 1942 in Greece ; † June 18, 2018 ibid) was a Greek basketball player and coach.

Konstantinos Politis, who played in the position of guard , was active during his playing career for the team of Panathinaikos Athens , with which he won three Greek championships .

With the Greek national team , Politis completed 41 international matches in which he scored 131 points (3.2 on average). He made his debut on April 29, 1961 during the European Championships in Yugoslavia in an encounter against the hosts. With Greece he took part in three European championships (1961, 1965, 1967). Politis had his last international match on September 17, 1968 in Greece's 102-91 victory over the Philippines .

Coaching career

After his playing career, Politis took over the coaching position at his former club Panathinaikos and was able to win three championships and two cup wins between 1979 and 1982. With PAOK Thessaloniki he also reached the Greek Cup final in 1989 and 1990, but both times had to admit defeat to city ​​and arch rivals Aris Thessaloniki . In 1991 he managed to lead PAOK to the final for the third time in a row, but he had to admit defeat again, this time against Panionios Athens . After his return to Panathinaikos, he led the team in the 1994 Final Four tournament for the European Cup , but only achieved third place there. As coach of the Greek national team, Politis took part in two European championships (1983, 1987) and one world championship (1986).
