Krahn (people)

The Krahn are an ethnic group in Liberia .

The Krahn are a tribe that resided there before Liberia was founded. When Liberia was founded in 1847 , the Americo-Liberians lived on the coast, while the indigenous tribes (including the Krahn) lived inland.

The Krahn speak the Krahn language .

It is assumed that the Krahn were originally farmers, but also engaged in fishing, animal husbandry and hunting. The Krahn practice a religion in which objects have souls or spirits ( animism ).

Members of the Krahn tribe founded a rebel group, the Movement for Democracy in Liberia (MODEL).
