Kreso Kovacec (born July 20, 1969 in Krapina , Yugoslavia ) is a German former football player of Croatian descent.

The striker Kovacec, who grew up in Hamburg , played in his youth for FC Süderelbe , from which he moved to VfL Bochum at the age of 18 . In Bochum, however, he was unable to assert himself due to several injuries, was only used in the amateur team and after only one year moved back to Hamburg, where he played for ASV Bergedorf 85 and Concordia Hamburg . With the latter club, Kovacec succeeded in 1993/94 also the promotion to the newly founded Regionalliga , in which Concordia 1994/95 achieved relegation.

For the 1995/96 season Kovacec joined Hannover 96 , for whom he scored six goals in 32 appearances in the 2nd Bundesliga in his first season , but Hannover relegated to the Regionalliga Nord. In October 1997, Kovacec left the club to join the northeast regional division tennis Borussia Berlin , with whom he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga , where he scored seven goals in 19 games.

Then Kovacec was committed by Hansa Rostock , who was playing in the Bundesliga . For the Hanseatic League, he played 17 games in the 1999/2000 season of the top German division, in which he scored two goals. In 2000/01 and 2001/02 , however, Kovacec only made eight appearances and one goal or three appearances in the Bundesliga, after which he left Rostock in 2002.

From 2002 for FC Augsburg and from 2003 for SV 07 Elversberg , Kovacec played two more seasons in the regional league before he was initially without a club in 2004. From 2005 he let his career end with the lower class Bavarian club DJK Augsburg-Lechhausen .

In the 2010/2011 season he was the coach of the first team of the DJK Augsburg-Lechhausen in the district league Schwaben-Nord. He has been the coach of FC Donauwörth 08 since the 2011/12 season.
