The war memorial Dannigkow of the War of Liberation is a listed war memorial in the municipality of Dannigkow in the city of Gommern in Saxony-Anhalt . In the local register of monuments , the war memorial is listed as a monument under registration number 094 71033 .

Design and history

It is a boulder with an inscription.

On April 5, 1813, there was a battle between Prussia and Russia with 20,000 men on one side and France with 35,000 men on the other. The battle near Möckern was won by the allies Prussia and Russia despite the inferior troop strength. One of the outpost battles took place in the area around Dannigkow. The battle for Dannigkow culminated in a house-to-house battle between the French and Prussians. This war memorial was erected in honor of the fallen.
