history

The white, elongated building that borders the spa garden to the west consists of three parts:

  • the central building, built 1821–1823, with its porch supported by eight Corinthian columns . The hall behind it, today's Weinbrennersaal, initially served as a so-called conversation house, where the "hazard" game was indulged. Today the hall with the sparkling crystal chandeliers is used for social events, especially concerts.
  • the left side wing, built 1912–1917 according to plans by senior building officer August Stürzenacker . There you will find the entrance hall, the impressive staircase to the first floor, restaurants and lavishly equipped lounges, such as For example, the Bénazetsaal, which was completely redesigned in 2011 by the Baden-Baden architect Peter W. Kruse, and the hall of mirrors.
  • the right side wing, expanded from 1853–1854 to accommodate the world-famous casino, the casino . The magnificent halls of the casino are furnished in the style of French royal castles from the 17th and 18th centuries. The White Room is Louis XVI style . designed. The Red Hall was furnished on the model of the Versailles Palace . The Salon Pompadour (Yellow Hall) is based on the furnishings of the Trianon and the Green Hall is decorated with the coats of arms of Baden cities .
