Kurt Klamroth (entrepreneur)

Friedrich Karl Kurt Klamroth (born April 22, 1872 in Halberstadt ; † December 5, 1947 there ) was a German fertilizer manufacturer and chairman of the Association of German Fertilizer Manufacturers .

Life

Kurt Klamroth, son of Karl Friedrich Ludwig Gustav Klamroth (* 1836; † 1897) and Anna Julie Karoline Weigel (* 1840; † 1890), came from an old family of merchants from Halberstadt. He grew up as one of seven siblings in Halberstadt.

In 1888 Klamroth left grammar school in order to complete a commercial training at his father's request. He joined the Ernst Vogler bank in Halberstadt as a bank apprentice . After completion of apprenticeship, he was enough of his military service in the Halberstadt Cuirassiers and was then in the Magdeburg forwarding business & Co. ton active.

He took over the business of the wholesale company for grain and fertilizers JG Klamroth in Halberstadt from his father and ran it in the fourth generation.

In 1923, his son Hans Georg , who was part of the wider community of the assassins of July 20, 1944 , became a partner in the company.

In 1945 his son Kurt took over the management of the company.

1910–1911 Kurt Klamroth had a villa built in Halberstadt based on his ideas and a design by Hermann Muthesius . The building at Klamrothstrasse 2 now houses the Parkhotel Unter den Linden . In her bestseller Meines Vaters Land , which tells the story of the Klamroth family, Wibke Bruhns , Kurt Klamroth's granddaughter , writes about the villa.

Kurt Klamroth wrote several papers on the family and company history.

Klamroth died of old age dementia.

Kurt Klamroth married Therese Marie Klara Gertrud, born on October 9, 1897. Vogler (* 1875; † 1951). The couple had a total of four children, in addition to their sons Hans Georg and Kurt, their daughters Anna Marie and Erika.
