Kurt Linder (born October 8, 1933 in Neureut ) is a former German football player and coach .

Career as a football player

Linder played in his active time from 1955 to 1956 for Karlsruher SC , where he scored two goals in ten games in the Oberliga Süd. He then moved to Switzerland to the BSC Young Boys , with whom he became champions in 1956/57 . In 1957 Linder went to Urania Genève Sport , where he played until 1959. In the 1959/60 season he played for SK Rapid Vienna . For Rapid he scored five goals in nine games and celebrated winning the Austrian championship . He then returned to Germany, where he played in 26 games for Rot-Weiss Essen from 1960 to 1962 . He scored seven goals for RWE. In 1962 he moved to Olympique Lyon . There he played 17 games in the 1962/63 season in which he scored a goal and reached the French Cup final.

Career as a coach

Linder began his coaching career in 1965 with FC Lausanne-Sport . He only remained the club's coach for a year. From 1968 he coached PSV Eindhoven . He coached the team until 1972. In the 1972/73 season he worked as a coach for Olympique Lyon . Linder looked after the club BSC Young Boys from 1973 to 1977. From 1981 he trained with Aad de Mos Ajax Amsterdam . In the 1981/82 season he was able to win the national Dutch championship. Johan Cruyff's return to Ajax Amsterdam was a key factor in its success. Linder had used several young players such as Wim Kieft , Frank Rijkaard , Gerald Vanenburg , Sonny Silooy , John van 't Schip and Marco van Basten in the league. Linder also signed Morten Olsen . After disagreements regarding the personality of Johan Cruyff, Linder left the club. Aad de Mos succeeded him as coach at Ajax Amsterdam. 1983 Linder was again coach of BSC Young Boys Bern. But due to sporting failures, he had to resign after a short time. In 1988 Linder coached Ajax Amsterdam for a second time. But he could not build on the sporting successes from earlier. He was fired during the season.
