Kurt Reumann

Kurt Reumann (born September 24, 1934 in Wesselburen , Dithmarschen) is a German journalist.

Life

After graduating from high school in Neumünster, Reumann earned money for his studies at the Holsteinischer Courier with a two-year traineeship. In Berlin he studied journalism , German , art history and political science at the Free University . In 1964 he did his doctorate under Emil Dovifat , whose assistant he was from 1963 to 1965, on political caricatures. He then gained insight into opinion research from Dovifat student Elisabeth Noelle-Neumann at the Allensbach Institute for Demoscopy . He was then at the Institute for Journalism at the University of Mainz research assistant to Elisabeth Noelle-Neumann.

In 1970 he joined the editorial team of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung . He was responsible for reports and comments on education policy , especially for universities. Another specialty was survey research, including election analyzes . For ten years he designed the page “Young people write / newspaper in school” as the editor in charge (until July 1997). He wrote a volume about this pilot project for the series “Texts + Theses” of the Fromm Verlag under the title “Reading Joy and Living Worlds” (1992). Reumann turned down several calls for C 4 professorships , for example at the Free University of Berlin or the University of Mainz .

Kurt Reumann was also deputy chairman of the board of trustees of the Liszt School of Music Weimar from 1995 to 2004 . Since 2008 he has been a member of the Academy of Charitable Sciences in Erfurt .

Reumann also dealt intensively with the spelling reform . He is married, has two daughters and lives in Eschborn .
