Kurt Tozzer

Kurt Tozzer (born December 5, 1929 in Vienna ; † July 1, 2012 ) was an Austrian television and press journalist and author.

Life

After elementary and secondary school Tozzer completed an apprenticeship as an electrical engineer at an engineering school .

He then began to work in the newspaper industry, initially as a freelancer in advertising, as a press photographer and then as a journalist. In 1954 he began a permanent employment relationship with the newly founded " Bild-Telegraf ". He also worked for the “ Express ” and the “ Wochenpresse ”. In 1967 Tozzer began as head of press at ORF . Later, until his retirement in 1994, he designed and directed numerous series such as the time-critical TV magazine “ Horizonte ” and the media magazine “Schwarz auf Weiß”. In retirement he worked as a freelance journalist. Among other things, he wrote as a columnist for “ Daily Everything ” and for the magazine “ Der Österreichische Journalist ”. From 1995 he published numerous books, some with his former ORF colleague Günther Kallinger .

In 1970 Tozzer was awarded the Austrian Adult Education TV Prize for the Horizonte contribution “Survival” . In 1975 his editorial team received the Austrian Nature Conservation Award for the Horizonte magazine . He was also awarded the Golden Camera .

Tozzer was married and had three children, two daughters and a son.
