Kyriena Siloti

Kyriena Siloti (born February 23, 1895 in Antwerp , † July 28, 1989 in New York City ) was an American music teacher.

The daughter of the composer and pianist Alexander Siloti had piano lessons from her father and from her mother Vera Tretyakova , a student of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov . She also studied composition with Alexander Glasunow at the St. Petersburg Conservatory .

In 1927 Siloti went to New York. Here she gave private piano lessons and taught at the New School in Cambridge until she was 93 . Her students included Leonard Lehrman and Eugene Istomin . As a music teacher, she passed on the Russian tradition of piano playing in the USA.
