László Somfai
László Somfai (born August 15, 1934 in Jászladány ) is a Hungarian musicologist .
Life
Somfai is a student of Dénes Bartha and Bence Szabolcsi . From 1958 to 1962 he worked for the Hungarian National Library and from 1972 to 2005 he was in charge of the Bartók archive. He is currently working on a critical edition of the composer's works. He also taught at the Franz Liszt Music Academy from 1969 to 2005 .
In 1997 he was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .
