Läkemedelsverket (short LV; English Medical Products Agency , short MPA) is a Swedish authority based in Uppsala . It is the regulatory and supervisory authority for medicinal products in Sweden and is also responsible for the supervision of cosmetics , hygiene products and medical devices . As the licensing and supervisory authority for narcotics, it regulates and monitors their handling and traffic.

The drug agency assigned to the Ministry of Social Affairs was established in 1990 and employs around 600 people, mainly medical professionals and pharmacists .
