The Lüneburg Sports Club from 1901 e. V. (abbreviated: LSK ) was the oldest and most successful football club in the Lüneburg region .
history
The LSK was founded on April 1, 1901 by 14 men as the Lüneburg Football Club (LFC) . The spelling was changed to Lüneburger Fußball-Klub (LFK) on June 20, 1903, probably due to a spelling reform . Another change of name took place just a few months later on September 4, 1903 in the Lüneburg Football Club of 1901 . In 1905 the club was one of the founding clubs of the North German Football Association . On April 25, 1912, it was renamed the Lüneburg Sport Club (LSK) .
He played a year in the Oberliga Nord (1951/52), the top division of football in the DFB at the time . After many promotions and relegations, among other things, the club played in the third-class regional league from 1998 to 2001 , and financial difficulties, the LSK came second in the Lower Saxony League East in the 2005/2006 and 2006/2007 season . So he just missed promotion to the league. With coach Ralf Sievers , a former Bundesliga professional from Eintracht Frankfurt and FC St. Pauli , who moved to Wilschenbruch in the 2007/2008 season , he made it into the first main round of the DFB Cup for the second time in the club's history after 1993 . In this competition, the club already entered under the new name FC Hansa Lüneburg .
President Manfred Harder , a former Bundesliga referee, had set himself the goal of rehabilitating the LSK . In addition, the indebted club merged with the football department of Lüneburger SV . The other departments should remain. The new club was initially called FC Hansa Lüneburg , but was officially renamed Lüneburger Sport-Klub Hansa von 2008 e. V. , abbreviated LSK Hansa , renamed.
