The Lüner Central Station is located north (near) the Lüner downtown and the lip in the district Luenen-Nord in North Rhine-Westphalia . In the operating point directory (Ril 100) it has the abbreviation ELUE .

meaning

The Lüner Hauptbahnhof is important for regional traffic in the Unna district . Only regional trains run here. For local public transport , it is the most important traffic junction in the city and the northern district area and is one of the stations in the fourth-highest category .

Station complex

Lüner Hauptbahnhof is a wedge station . There are four tracks in total. A fifth track served as a connection to the former Victoria colliery and has now been closed.

The reception building with the station hall is located in the middle between the tracks, which are at different heights . To the west of this is the Dortmund – Enschede (KBS 412) railway line with tracks 1 and 2 on the lower level and the Dortmund – Münster railway line (KBS 411) with tracks 3 and 4 on the upper level to the east disused track 5. The connection level in the lower area leads to the nearby central bus station (ZOB). Direct access to the platforms is possible from the lower level through a tunnel. This pedestrian tunnel at the western end of the tracks also offers an indirect passage to the city center.

It is criticized that there is only one ticket machine at the entrance to platforms 1 and 2, so that travelers who want to use the upper platform 3 or 4 from the main entrance are forced to buy the ticket without a sign through the stairwell a hundred meters below . Then the path goes up another two hundred meters.

The platform on tracks 1 and 2 can be reached both by stairs and an elevator . This was modernized in 2019. The platform on tracks 3 and 4 can currently only be reached via stairs.

Track occupancy

  • Track 1: RB51 (Dortmund - Lünen - Coesfeld - Gronau - Enschede and (Dortmund -) Lünen - Dortmund)
  • Track 2: RB51 (Enschede - Gronau - Coesfeld - Lünen - Dortmund)
  • Track 3: RB50 (Münster - Lünen - Prussia - Dortmund) and long-distance trains passing through (Münster - Dortmund)
  • Track 4: RB50 (Dortmund - Prussia - Lünen - Münster) and long-distance trains passing through (Dortmund - Münster)
  • Track 5: closed (formerly connection to the Victoria colliery)

history

The Lüner Hauptbahnhof opened in 1917. It was not the first station in Lünen, because at the end of the 19th century the Lünen station - today's disused Lünen Nord station , located approx. 500 m to the northwest - was served by the Dortmund-Gronau-Enscheder Railway Company . The reception building of Lüner Hauptbahnhof was extensively renovated in the 1990s as part of the Emscherpark International Building Exhibition , equipped with a west exit to the city center and linked to the Central Bus Station (ZOB).
