L'Association

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

L'Association is a French comic book publisher founded in 1990 by comic artists Jean-Christophe Menu , Lewis Trondheim , David B. , Mattt Konture , Patrice Killoffer , Stanislas and Mokeït . The aim was an independent publishing house in which the draftsmen could determine the content themselves. Mokeït left the group soon after it was founded to pursue painting.

The publishing house is dedicated to modern trends in the Franco-Belgian comics scene and has gained international attention and commercial success with the publications of Joann Sfar and Marjane Satrapi . The anthology Comix 2000 with contributions by 324 authors from 29 countries was published at the turn of the millennium at the end of 1999.

From 1992 L'Association published the Lapin magazine . In 1993 the first meeting of the OuBaPo (Ouvroir de Bande-dessinée Potential; workshop for potential comics) took place with Patrice Killofer. The name of the workshop is based on OuLiPo , a literary circle around Raymond Queneau , whose members created literature according to fixed, restrictive rules. The comic works were published from 1997 in the magazine OuBaPo by L'Association. The third magazine L'Éprouvette is devoted to comic theory and criticism.
