The LOBO electronic GmbH is manufacturer and service company in the field of laser show and multimedia , based in Aalen and is considered a world leader in this segment. In addition to controls for laser and multimedia shows, LOBO produces laser color mixing systems, scanning systems , laser projectors and waterscreens (projection surfaces made of water). LOBO also operates as a rental service provider and show producer. The name LOBO is made up of the first letters of the name of the sole shareholder and managing director Lothar Bopp.

history

The company was founded by Lothar Bopp in 1982 . In 1987 LOBO brought the first series-ready RGB color mixing unit onto the market, with which the colors within a laser image could be specifically defined. In 1988 the real-time parallel computer LACON-3 followed, the first control in show and event technology, as well as one of the first industrial applications based on transputer . For this, LOBO received the innovation award of the state of Baden-Württemberg in 1992 . As a result, LOBO received the LDI Award (USA) and the SIB / SILB Award (Italy) in 1992.

The company has been a member of the International Laser Display Association (ILDA) since 1994 and, in its first year of membership, received the first ILDA Award, the most important award in the show laser industry, for the multimedia show 1250 Years of Fulda . In 1996, Hermann Simon described LOBO as a hidden champion for computer-controlled laser systems in his book The Hidden Champions. In 1997, the Handelsblatt portrayed the LOBO company in its series "Unknown market leaders": "LOBO ELECTRONIC GMBH / The technological world market leader sets standards"

In 2000, LOBO hosted the annual ILDA conference in Stuttgart , together with MediaLas Laserproducts from Balingen . The laser and multimedia workstation LACON-5 presented in 2001 received the TiLE Award in the same year. In 2005, LOBO took the lead in the ILDA Awards. In 2007, Hermann Simon describes LOBO as the market leader for laser shows in his new book Hidden Champions of the 21st Century .

Main product lines

  • LACON-5: Modular real-time laser and multimedia control
  • MODULA-5: Modular, expandable laser show playback and recording system
  • RGB color mixing units: Color mixing units based on color mixing crystals (acousto-optical principle)
  • AMP Scanningsysteme: Beam deflection systems for vectorial image generation
  • DEMUX: Signal distribution devices based on the DDL system (see below)
  • Fiber systems: fiber coupling systems, coupling / decoupling optics as well as glass fibers for the external supply of laser projectors with laser light
  • Compact projectors: Complete unit, consisting of a scanning and color mixing system.
  • Mirror systems: Two product lines (for indoor and outdoor use) for deflecting, fanning out or diffracting laser beams over greater distances
  • Screen systems: Static and moving screen systems as well as drives (eight main product lines)
  • Water Screen : Water projection surfaces for creating hologram-like effects with laser, video, slides or light projections (six product lines, including for indoors and outdoors)
  • LMS: Dedicated measuring system for the safety assessment of laser shows

Most LOBO systems and components are based on the so-called DDL system. The control signals to the laser projectors and peripheral devices are transmitted optically via fiber optics . The fiber optic cable connects the devices in practically any order. In addition to less cabling, advantages are also the insensitivity to electromagnetic interference. DDL is also a closed laser safety system . Each connected component contains self-sufficient safety monitoring systems and simultaneously monitors the safety-relevant function of other devices on the same bus . According to LOBO, a safety-related error leads to an automatic shutdown in less than 1 ms.
