LSÜ twist

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As CBM-twist is called a symptom in dogs , which by rotation (engl. Twist ) of the lumbosacral junction (CBM), ie the region of the spine between the last lumbar vertebrae ( vertebrae lumbalis ) and the sacrum ( the sacrum is) identified. This results in an equilateral sideways movement of the pelvis ("hip swing") when the rear extremity is brought forward.

While an LSÜ twist is still considered physiological in puppies and young dogs with not yet fully developed hip joints , it is a movement disorder in adult dogs. It is a compensatory movement ( vicarious movement ) that replaces the rotational movements of the hip joint when the limbs are presented . A LSÜ twist is a typical feature of painful diseases of the hip joints, especially hip dysplasia (HD).
