Landshut municipal company for medical care
The Landshut municipal company for medical care , or Lakumed for short (proper spelling La.KUMed), is a municipal company in the Landshut district that operates the district hospitals and other medical facilities in the district. It was founded in 2000 as an amalgamation of the district hospitals Landshut-Achdorf, Vilsbiburg and Schlossklinik Rottenburg, which until then had been run as independent administrative operations of the district.
The company started its business operations on January 1, 2001. Since then, the administration of the district hospitals has been largely standardized and the district's medical services have been expanded. The district hospitals form a joint district clinic.
Today, with 621 beds, La.KUMed is the largest medical provider in western Lower Bavaria and eastern Upper Bavaria.

- Landshut-Achdorf Medical Center - Outpatient Operations Center at the Landshut-Achdorf Hospital
- Vilsbiburg Hospital - basic and standard care hospital (185 beds)
- Vilsbiburg Hospice - (10 beds)
- Schlossklinik Rottenburg - Specialist hospital for internal medicine, geriatric medicine and geriatric rehabilitation (66 beds)
- Schlossreha Rottenburg - Orthopedic follow-up rehabilitation (30 beds)
The competence center for health professions in Vilsbiburg, which also houses the vocational school for health and nursing, which is attended by the nursing students at La.KUMed, continues to be managed by the Landshut district itself.
The Landshut-Achdorf Hospital is located in the independent city of Landshut , which is also the seat of the district administration, and is an academic teaching hospital of the Technical University of Munich . The district office is located in the immediate vicinity of the hospital.
The Landshut-Achdorf and Vilsbiburg hospitals jointly operate an intestinal center and a trauma center. At the Landshut-Achdorf Hospital there is also the Lower Bavaria Perinatal Center (Level I) and a center for palliative medicine, as well as a vascular center and, since 2010, a breast center. Expansion and renovation measures are currently underway at the Landshut-Achdorf hospital, the bed capacity of which is to be significantly increased as a result.
There is a center for pain therapy at the Vilsbiburg Hospital.
