Labrador Sea
The Labrador Sea is a northern inlet of the Atlantic Ocean between the Canadian peninsula Labrador in the southwest and Greenland in the northeast. It extends over around 1000 by 900 kilometers, an area of 841,000 km². Its average sea depth is 1898 meters and its greatest depth is 4316 meters. The Labrador Sea is up to the southeastern continental shelf surrounding it.
In the north you pass through the shallower Davis Strait into Baffin Bay , to the west across the Hudson Strait (between Labrador and Baffin Island ) in the Hudson Bay . In the east, the Irminger Sea borders the Labrador Sea at Cape Farvel , the southern tip of Greenland. To the south of it lies the open North Atlantic.
