Ladislav Alster

Ladislav Alster (born June 2, 1927 , † January 11, 1991 in Prague ) was a Czech chess player and chess journalist.

Life

Between 1953 and 1965 he took part in the ČSSR championship eleven times, in 1956 he was the winner. He still played in several international tournaments, around 1955 in Erfurt , 1957 at the zone tournament in Wageningen and in Marienbad in 1959.

Alster published several chess books. He headed chess sections in many chess magazines and daily newspapers. His last Elo rating was 2235, his highest rating of 2340 he reached in January 1986. From 1987 he was a FIDE Master .

National team

In 1954 he won the Chess Olympiad for students with the Czechoslovak team, which he took part in a second time in 1956. With the Czechoslovak team he took part in the 1956 Chess Olympiad in Moscow and the 1957 European Team Championship in Vienna , where he took third place.
