The Lahey-Park is located in the area of the city of Erkelenz between the villages of Kückhoven and Holzweiler, next to a rubble dump. The park was created on the private initiative of a passionate gardener from the 1960s, who, as he says, re-cultivated a landfill site by hand and expanded it into a garden with a variety of composite biotopes. The park bears the name of the founder and operator.

Various animals also live in aviaries or free-range in the park.

Another attraction is the reconstruction of a Neolithic farmhouse, as it may have been in a settlement excavated near Kückhoven. This also includes the replica of the Kückhoven fountain from around 5090 BC. BC, the oldest wooden fountain in the world.

Furthermore, various rooms can be used for private or public events. A sponsoring association occasionally offers cultural events or guided tours for school classes. There are seasonal events for children and families, such as the Easter egg hunt.

The park is closed for the time being and should reopen in autumn 2007.

In the future, the park will have to give way due to the Garzweiler open-cast brown coal mine .
