The state fire brigade museum Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is located in Meetzen , a district of the municipality Holdorf ( district of Northwest Mecklenburg ). In 2001 the Meetzen Fire Brigade Museum was named the State Fire Brigade Museum for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

history

The museum was founded in 1995 by the fire department historian Uwe Rosenfeld in a former agricultural machinery workshop. The entire property has an area of ​​approx. 10,000 m², the exhibition area is approx. 2000 m².

A restoration workshop for large vehicles and an extensive literature archive, which is also available to chroniclers and historians, is attached to the fire brigade museum.

As a state fire brigade museum, the fire brigade in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and the district of Northwest Mecklenburg has been researched and presented since the fire brigades were founded around 1845 until today. Approx. 3500 exhibits can be seen in the exhibition , including approx. 66 vehicles, trailers and large equipment.

The museum has fixed opening times and cooperates with the International Fire Brigade Museum in Schwerin (Germany's largest fire brigade museum on over 4500 m²), it also has its own company fire brigade and is run by fire brigade members on a voluntary basis as an association.

The state fire brigade museum MV is located in the small town of Meetzen near Gadebusch in the Schaalsee biosphere reserve and is a partner of the UNESCO reserve.
