The Vienna Regional Court for Civil Law Matters is an Austrian court . The seat of the court is the Palace of Justice in Vienna .

As the incoming court, it is responsible for official liability cases, declarations of nullity, declarations of death incurred before January 1, 2005 and expropriation payments in the federal state of Vienna . It is also responsible in the first instance for civil law disputes with a value in dispute over 15,000  euros . Exceptions are labor and social law matters as well as commercial matters. The Vienna Regional Court is also not responsible for the disputes legally assigned to the district courts , such as disputes relating to family law and tenancy law. As a second instance, the Vienna Regional Court in civil law matters is responsible for appeals against decisions of the Viennese district courts with the exception of the district court for commercial matters Vienna in civil matters. In criminal matters, the Regional Court for Criminal Matters Vienna has second instance jurisdiction, not the Regional Court for civil law matters . Furthermore, over-authentications according to the Hague Certification Convention as well as intermediate authentications of signatures for the federal state of Vienna are carried out here.

Marlene Perschinka has been the president of the court since June 1, 2009.

history

In Austria during the Nazi era , the court was overturned in 1939 and merged with the Vienna Regional Court . In 1945 it was restored with the law for the restoration of the Austrian court organization (Court Organization Act 1945 - GOG 1945).
