Ležiachov (until 1927 also "Ležiachovo" in Slovak; Hungarian Lézsa - until 1907 Lezsjachó ) is a municipality in northern Slovakia with 146 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), which belongs to Okres Martin , part of Žilinský kraj , and is part of the traditional Landscape Turiec is counted.

geography

The municipality is located in the central part of the torrent basin (Slovak Turčianska kotlina ) on the left bank of the Turiec . The center of the village is at an altitude of 441  m nm and is 11 kilometers from Martin .

Neighboring municipalities are Benice in the north, Rakovo in the east, Slovany in the south and west and Valča in the northwest.

history

Ležiachov was first mentioned in writing in 1252 as terra quinque villarum and was part of the Turz provost's territory. The current name appears in the form Lesako in 1534 . At the end of the 18th century the village belonged to the Chamber and in the 19th century to a study fund, which was used to maintain the then Royal Hungarian University .

In 1715 there were 26 households in Ležiachov, in 1785 the village had 37 houses and 311 inhabitants. In 1828 there were 32 houses and 259 inhabitants who were employed as oil pressers and saffron processors .

The place in Turz County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 , after which it became part of Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, 148 people lived in Ležiachov, 144 of them Slovaks and one Czech . Three residents did not provide any information about their ethnicity .

116 residents committed to the Roman Catholic Church, ten residents to the Evangelical Church AB and one resident to the Apostolic Church; one resident professed a different denomination. Eleven residents were without a denomination and the denomination was not determined for nine residents.
