Leire Pajín Iraola (* 16th September 1976 in San Sebastián ) is a Spanish PSOE - politician . From October 2010 to December 2011 she was Minister for Health and Social Affairs in the Zapatero II cabinet .

In 1983 her family moved to Benidorm , where her parents were involved in local politics. Pajín studied sociology at the University of Alicante . She was chairman of the non-governmental organization Solidaridad Internacional . In the Spanish parliamentary elections in 2000 , she became the youngest member of the national parliament. On the occasion of the 35th party congress of the PSOE in July 2000 she was appointed party secretary for non-governmental organizations and social movements. In 2004 she moved from this office to that of State Secretary for International Cooperation. She held this until 2008, when she was appointed secretary for organization and coordination of the PSOE at the 37th party congress, an office roughly equivalent to that of general secretary in German parties. In the cabinet reshuffle on October 21, 2010, she succeeded Trinidad Jiménez as Minister of Health and Social Affairs. In addition, Pajín's new ministry was incorporated into the responsibility of the Ministry of Gender Equality previously headed by Bibiana Aído .
