Lena Andersson (table tennis player)
Lena Andersson (born July 3, 1952 ) is a Swedish table tennis player and trainer.
Player career
Andersson played in the Swedish clubs IFK Lund, RAA BTK and Arhov IK. From 1967 to 1974 Andersson was called up to the Swedish national team 80 times. At the European Youth Championships in 1970 she reached the semi-finals in singles and doubles, in mixed she won silver with Stellan Bengtsson . Two years later she reached the final again with Stellan Bengtsson at the Senior European Championships in mixed.
From 1967 to 1973 she was represented at all four world championships . She was nominated three times for the European ranking tournament Europe TOP-12 , in 1972 she finished 5th.
In 1974 Andersson ended her career as a competitive athlete. She currently plays at the club BSV Munich with the men's team in the lower classes at district level.
trainer
In 1971 Andersson began training as a coach in Sweden. In 1973 and 1974 she coached the Swedish team at the European Youth Championship. At the same time, she completed a degree as a sports and leisure teacher. On September 1, 1976, she took over the office of regional trainer at the Lower Saxony table tennis association , where she mainly took care of the youth sector. She held the office until September 1980. During this time she also played for the Bundesliga club TTV Rinteln. Later she worked for other TT regional associations, such as the Bavarian State Association (from October 1, 1984). Until 2005 she was the head trainer in the Badischer Disabled and Rehabilitation Sports Association BBS.
