Hans Lennart "Klimpen" Häggroth (born March 2, 1940 in Övertorneå ; † August 28, 2016 in Skellefteå ) was a Swedish ice hockey goalkeeper .

Career

Lennart Häggroth began his career as an ice hockey player with the second-class Kiruna AIF . At the age of 21 he moved to Skellefteå AIK , for whose professional team he was active from 1961 to 1966 in Division 1 , which was then the highest Swedish division. Then he returned to Kiruna. From 1969 to 1972 the goalkeeper ran for the Clemensnäs HC , with whom he was relegated to the second-rate division 2 in 1970 . He last played in the 1972/73 season for the second division club CRIF .

International

For Sweden , Häggroth took part in the 1964 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck , where he and his team won the silver medal. He was also in his country's squad at the 1962 and 1963 World Championships . At the 1962 World Cup, he and his team won the gold medal. As the best European team, Sweden also became European champions. At the 1963 World Cup, he won the silver medal with his country.
