The Doosan Lentjes GmbH is a German plant -Unternehmen based in Ratingen in North Rhine-Westphalia . Lentjes was founded in 1927 by Ferdinand Lentjes and is now part of the Doosan Group.

For many years Lentjes was known primarily as a manufacturer of steam boilers . Today Lentjes plans and builds turnkey complete and partial systems in the field of energy process engineering.

history

The Lentjes company was founded in 1927/28 by Ferdinand Lentjes as Rheinische Rohrleitungsbau GmbH , and shortly afterwards Ferdinand Lentjes Boilermaker and Mechanical Engineering based in Düsseldorf . After the death of Ferdinand Lentjes in 1955, the company became the property of the Ferdinand Lentjes Foundation .

Until the 1980s the company grew through the core business of boiler construction and company acquisitions, most recently Burmeister & Wain A / S , Denmark (1980), Gottfried Bischoff GmbH & Co. KG (1984) and Standardkessel (1985).

The 1990s and early 2000s were marked by a longer crisis in the German energy plant construction industry, by numerous restructuring and a gradual but steady process of shrinking. This process happened under Metallgesellschaft (today GEA Group ), which took over Lentjes in 1990/91. The activities and technologies of Lentjes as well as the subsidiary and sister companies Lurgi , Standardkessel , Standard Fasel and Bischoff were reorganized. Lentjes and the metal company cooperated closely with Deutsche Babcock during this time . From this time the name Lentjes can be found in connection with the other aforementioned company names in various combinations. At the end of the shrinkage process, the large boilers (1996 to Babcock ) and industrial boilers ( Standardkessel , 2004 to HTP ) areas with the associated service (today: ThyssenKrupp Xervon ) were ultimately sold and of the several thousand employees, a few hundred were left. Lentjes no longer had its own production facility, had become a pure engineering company and concentrated on building the entire system as well as the combustion and flue gas cleaning systems .

From shortly after the turn of the millennium, GEA tried to sell its entire plant engineering division, including Lentjes . In preparation for this, Lentjes GmbH took over the operational business of Lurgi Lentjes AG (today: LL Plant Engineering AG ) in 2005 . On May 2, 2007, Lentjes GmbH was sold to Austrian Energy & Environment , a subsidiary of A-TEC , at a price of € 1.00. The European antitrust authorities initially formulated a reservation so that the sale did not become legally effective. On December 5th, after a thorough examination, the sale was approved unconditionally and completed on December 21st, 2007. At the beginning of 2008 Lentjes GmbH changed its name to AE&E Lentjes GmbH and took over the triangular logo of AE&E .

After A-TEC went bankrupt in October 2010, AE&E also had to file for bankruptcy and buyers were sought for the various AE&E subsidiaries. On November 28, 2011, AE&E Lentjes GmbH was taken over by Doosan Power Systems Ltd (DPS) , a subsidiary of the Korean Doosan group.
